    Help with gear setup

Hi I wanted to post this in the gear section but its not Ernie Ball related so I posted here instead!

I have 2 Line 6 amps and 1 FBV Shortboard. Id like to run both amps at the same time and control them both with the one pedal.

Is there any type of connection or pedal that can make this possible, or do I just have to get a multi effects pedal with 2 outputs to go to each amp.

I know I can get an A,B,Y switch which can obviously connect my guitar to 2 amps, but I want to be able to control the amps onboard channel settings.

Any help or a nudge in the right direction would be great.
Im not much of a gear head when it comes to amp setups, as I have pretty much had a guitar tech to sort that side of things for me over the years, so Im sure there is a few options that I dont know about that will allow me the desired request.

    Thanks in advance!

If I remember right, the Footboard uses a Cat. 5 type plug (like a computer network cable). There may be a "Y" adapter for that at radio shack. Hell, it's worth a try.

I don't have a line 6 amp but I do run an FBV floorboard, which uses a CAT5 plugbetween itself and (in my case a podxt) and your amp.
I can't see how you could control both amps using a common CAT5.

Have you tried the Line 6 forum?

There is a guy on the forum - Tim O'sullivan who runs a couple of Line 6 amps and maybe he can help ya?- Try PM'ing him perhaps?

I'd think you'd have better luck contacting Line6 directly.

    Thanks for replies so far.

Here is a thought - it could be a retarded one but what the hell.

What would happen if I used the direct out from one amp into the input on the second amp, say on a clean channel? Would this work? Would I hear the sound I have on amp one come through the speaker of amp 2? Or would it blow up amp 2? haha

That way I could use the shortboard and amp settings on amp one and just run the direct out to amp two without the need of controlling both amps, just need to control amp one??? Its just the direct out connecting to the input that I am unsure about damaging something!

So you just want the second amp for additional power?

Generally you don't want to run the first amp into the preamp of the second amp. (There are exceptions, you can get some great sounds slaving loaded amps that are all about power amp distortion this way ...)

I'd run the line out (direct out, FX send if it has one) of the first amp into the FX return of the second. Then you're just using its power amp stage.
