    Greatest Bassists!

    Since everyone is on the subject of greatests guitarists i thought us bassists might like to share our major influences. The obvious choices are Victor Wooten, Jaco Pastorius, Stanley Clarke, Marcus Miller, etc. Flea has his talents too but I actually like it when he plays trumpet more. Colin Greenwood and Paul McCartney stand out to me for their down-to-the-basics mastery of bass playing. I didn't mean to forget Billy Sheehan! I'm excited to learn other peoples favorites. I'm might hear of some I've never known about. . Have fun!

    Pete Trewavas from Marillion is exceptional (especially on TransAtlantic's SMPTe album)

    Roscoe Beck or Kyle Brock who back up Eric Johnson....

    Andy West, Dave LaRue, Jerry Peek who play with Steve Morse & co.
