I picked up a graphite SUB5 a while back and love it but, frankly, am not certain if it is passive or active. It requires a 9v battery but there are no "center notches" on the bass and treble tone pots like there are on my active SR 5's. Can someone please advise?

Yep it's active...You can ballpark the center of the knobs, but try not to rely on the center detents so much, go with what sounds good!

Thanks! I find that if I roll-off the treble about 80% and the bass around 50, I get a nice, punchy sound. Neck is nice an slick too, but she's not quite the monster as the SR5 HS Dargie, so I tend to use the SUB when composing and record with the Stingray.

The sub 5 is like the classic 2 band. Remove the knobs and put them back on using the set screws as the halfway point. Face them up towards you. Ever since I have done that, I can dial in a tone faster and easier. I even do it to the volume knob.
