Hey Stanky,
I've been in baltimore for 9-10 months now and it's not to bad. The best place to be for a musician is south of baltimore, in the area between B-more and DC. That's where all the action is. Sadly, I live like 30 minutes north of baltimore so I've got to drive far to swing gigs.

Is your bro coming here for work or school? The best places to go out in B-more are Fells Point, the inner harbor, and Towson. Other than those three places, I like going down to DC. I wish I had more advice to give, what do ya wanna know?
