Hi there Allen! I'm happy that you got it working the way you want it. The funny thing with setups is that one of the strats that I sold off was set up almost exactly the same and the guy said he was going to raise it up. Everyone likes it their own way, I guess. Good luck on the maple. I've considered having my sub 1 done with some 3/8" maple (obviously more than a veneer), but painted it instead. I've seen others do that with spalted maple and it comes out great. I think you'll like this forum. It's pretty good. My Axis is in the for sale section here. I ended up buying a Dillion DR450 semi-hollow with the money from the AX20. It's a PRS copy and quite a bit different from the Axis.
Hi Jack, I bought your natural AX20 a while back. I love that thing! I can tell the difference in resonance with the hard-tail. I took the 10's off and put some 9's and set it up a little lower and it plays great (it played great before but... I have to mess with my guitars to make em mine I guess!). I have a great veneer maple quilt I'm testing on spare wood. Then I may try to put it on your natural to see how it will come out. I'm in over my head though I think so we'll see!
