Odd Sunburst SR 4 on ebay

Just checked out this older SR 4 on ebay and I couldn't help noticing the odd color scheme sunburst finish.

It looks more like a caramel sunburst rather than a more traditional black border tobacco burst. Could it be a custom or perhaps a refinish? HMMMMMM

Looks to be about the same color as my '81 P bass.

Starting to think about returning to bass playing in the very near future.

    I looked at those pics.

At first glance , the final pic of the back of the body could be the truest color.
See the variance? Doesn't mean my glance is correct though.

Sunbursts can be tricky to get a good pic of the finish.
Lighting , film, scanners..these can play havoc with true color representation.

Something about the reds in 3 color sunbursts. Many times, the red band photos seem larger and or more colorful. That is likely a film issue in traditional cameras.

The front could be faded too. See.. there are different possibilities. I have seen all of these 'variables' on photos of sunbursts.

I would ask the seller which picture is most accurate. Sometimes, they even have extra pics they can send. Ask if the front is faded.

Nice bass "Freedok". How are you liking the 77/82 Shorline Gold Ray?

What's up with the paint in the neck pocket?
bovinehost: Yes, I do agree with that, but if there's nothing wrong then there's nothing wrong.
Beth: I would compare Bongo to Tommy Lee Jones. Bad a$$ and just hot in a weird way...
cheezewiz: They should take their lace thongs off and play bass.

I've noticed with some Sunbursts that edging is not black but infact a very dark chocolate brown when held to the light.

On this Bass, it's very noticable. Perhaps the paint mix on the day it was done?
