Hmmmmm.....Now I have a bit of a dilemma. I was considering getting a Sterling in Medallion Gold. But I was hoping it was more yellow. And EBMM doesn't have a brighter yellow. So, do I go ahead and get the Medallion Gold? Or do I get it in Radiance Red? Or in Desert Gold like the Bongo I just sold Motojunkie? Or the worst scenario of all, not buy a Sterling and get a new computer instead.![]()
Opinions?

Due to the avalanche of medical bills I have had this year, I am currently "without balls".
Hi there guys. Have been browsing through these forums for quite a while and when I saw this thread about a Medallion Gold MM I had sign up and replyOriginally Posted by RitchieDarling

I happen to own a Sterling Sunburst and a Medallion Gold Stingray 5.
If you are interested in pics to have a better look at the colour, just let me know.
I'll see if I can make some.

Yup, sounds great.
And welcome Newbie![]()
Here it is... just 2 files right now....
1 is "crappy: though. But I made it 10 secs later but with a flash. And it gets darker![]()
But ok. It's quite yellow I think. And it has a small "sparkle" in the finish.
I'll see if I can make a better pic when I have more time. (And more light)
Bottomline: The more light, the more yellow it will look. (Get lots of lights on stage)
I bought the bass because it sounded very good and didn't care what colour it was. Now I really dig it.

I just took some new pics of my trans-orange sr4, I just gotta get em processed and up and I'll post a link to them. They're good representations of the color.
Hindsight is always in 20/20
Bass EBMM Stingray4 Trans-Orange
This is my newly acquired 1993 SR5 fretless. The color is similar to rolls burgundy, but it is not a solid color. It shows dark wood grain streaks. I would almost compare it to a Gibson cherry stain on mahogany. Or kind of a black cherry color but not bursted?

I'll try and get some better phots of the grain and the color. Just gotta play with the digital camera. (Like I need an excuse? Well since I got the fretless that is all I play )
Here are some more, the one with the blue highlights is actually closest to the real color.

2003 blue dawn fade Sterling
BFR Roasted Stingray
after having looked at the reference shots, i'm having a hard time differentiating between two pairs of colors.
05 sapphire black
07 graphite pearl
and
21 candy (apple) red
43 radiance red
can anyone provide some details?
i've seen candy red in the store and it looks nice and metalic shiny. how is radiance red so much different/better that it commands a price premium?
thanks everyone.
i'm in bongo decision mode.
oh and one more just curiosity question.
i've noticed none of the burst or trans colors are available for bongos. were these options tried and rejected?
i'm trying to imagine what say, a pearl redburst bongo might look like. my imagination says a vintage sunburst would look pretty terrible.perhaps the bongo pickguard would hide too much of the er... "burst gradient" if you will.
blue burst bongo with a MOT pg!
I have seen a pic on here somewhere of a stain bongo, I believe it was mahogany. Yet another "one off".
