Gheeesh, Roby's on a roll!! Serial # E29292 references a StingRay 5 in Translucent Red with a maple neck. It was completed on March 12, 2002 and shipped straight to the U.K.

    Thanks Dan,
but I should have said 5 string H (not HH). Only problem is they're both the same colour. But was a bargain not to be missed.

    Dan,

Just bought a used Stingray 5 with serial number E29192. Can you tell me when it was made? The color looks like it might be a honey burst (see my avatar).

    Thanks,

    Larry K.

Larry, sweet! Actually we show it as a Autumn Red Burst and a build date of 3/19/02. Though I have to agree, it looks like HoneyBurst. The difference is Honeyburst is translucent, ARB is not.

Very nice! Your bass was completed on 3/22/06. The body is ash, the neck is maple and the fretboard is rosewood. The finish is Vinatage Sunburst.

    Hi Dan

Thanks for that information, could I be a pain and ask if Aus was its first home? Had some headstock wear when I bought it, which was fine, got me a great price

    Thanks

    Hi Evil.

No records exist for the Pre-EB Basses and with regards to the Pre-EB Sabres the serials have no chronology at all.

Dates are recorded on the neck heel and in the body pocket but the neck has to be removed to view them.

If it's any help, the electronics on the Sabre changed in circa 1983 to a Sting Ray pre-amp, soapbar pickups and a lever switch replaced the toggle switches.
