Just purchased this bass on eBay. Hoping to get it next week. There are a few things I want from this. I would like to know it's finish date, where it shipped to, it's features (to see if any were changed), and I would like to see if the seller's story was true about it being a NAMM Show piece.

    The serial number is E23642.

I recently purchased my first Stingray, and I was wondering if I could also get some background info about it!

The serial number is E47970. It's currently sunburst with a white guard and a white pickup cover - also string through body. I was wondering when it was made, and also what colour combination it left the factory with? Was this white pickup cover an after-market addition? And is there anything peculiar about the string through body aspect?

Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Invader, Congrats on your new bass! We made a limited number of these Vintage Sunburst STTB StingRay basses for our Japanese distributor, Kanda Shokai, for sale only in Japan. It originally would have had a black pickguard and black pickup cover. The white may have been added by Kanda Shokai. Interesting!

    Control,

This bass appears to have been at our Summer NAMM show booth in Nashville 2001, where it was picked up by Corner Music in Nashville. The color is Las Vegas Gold and the production date is 6/12/01. It left the factory with a maple neck and a white pickguard.

    Cheers,

    Dan

bratetr, Your bass was completed on 5/30/07 and was shipped to Mountain Music in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. It should be sporting a Black finish, rosewood neck, matching headstock, and a black ice pickguard. Congrats on your new piece!

Wow.. that's nice to know! Thanks! I don't suppose you know the year of this bass? Would it be 2005? And is it possible to find out what number this one is out of the total "special run"? Were there many made?

Thanks very much for the information!
