Oh, yeah, I do, thanks Dan.

BTW, is there any chance you know how many StingRays were done in Desert Gold, especially in that combo: SR 4 HH in Desert Gold, rosewood with matching headstock (114-28-21-01)?

I have a feeling it could be a rather rare one...

oli, I don't know how you knew, but yes, you have a one-of a-kind instrument. There are a few other StingRay HH's in Desert Gold but no other with the exact specs you have. The closest is one built to the exact same specs but with a shell pickguard.

    Hey Dan.

I've often wondered...what year did the finish change from Sunburst to Honeyburst?

Gav, it was changed at summer NAMM 2002, when we came out with all of the new 'burst finishes like Cherryburst, Tobaccoburst, etc. I think the main reason it was changed was to try to distinguish it from both Vintage Sunburst and Tobaccoburst. We used to sort of always refer to it as Honeyburst even before we officially changed the name, because we felt it better described the finish.

Kind of a wordy answer, sorry!

Hi, I was wondering if you could tell me when my 4 string Stingray was made. The only SN# I can find on it is on the bridge, and it is 32900.

dbrillha, The serial numbers were on the bridges until 1997. Your Natural / Maple StingRay bass was completed on 4/10/91.

Thanks a lot Dan, and I was not trying to push at all, but since I am awake about 6 hours earlier, and at my work, I thought I'd sent you a gentle reminder.. Thanks again, nice to know she was born in Spring!

    Hi Dan,

Could you please check the BOD for E63730, a black/maple SR4 HH I just bought from a forum member on behalf of a friend of mine. Phantastic sounding instrument, and she deserves to have her birthday celebrated.
