Hi Derek

my black Musicman Stingray has a serial number of 25975 I bought in brand new but can't remember the year!

Derek will give you the date of birth but in the meantime it appears to be a late 1987 or early 1988 Bass.

Is there a decal on the rear of the headstock (Made in San Luis Obispo)?

No Rod I bought it in the UK so I'm not sure where it was made to be honest I'll take a snap and post it

It was made in SLO but what I mean is that at around the date of your Bass they began putting a decal on the rear of the headstock to actually say where it was made. Prior to that, there was no rear decal.

Just interested from the historical side of things

IMO, it will be (one day...not too far off) from a collectors point of view

Hey that's good to know, it sounds excellent though it has been gigged extensively I was thinking of getting the body refinished so I'll have to make sure I pick the right blokes to do it.

I'm sure it's a late 1987 and you would have purchased it in 88.

Matter for you, but I wouldn't have it refinished.

Heya, Ken. Sorry...I forgot to tell you that the DOB for that 'Ray is 9/27/00. I think it's posted further back in this thread.
