Looks to be stripped of the finish, and looks to be poplar?
Can you tell me what color it was? Thanks!

Renaud, according to our records, the StingRay 5 was built on 2/16/90 and was originally a Sunburst (Honeyburst) finish. It does look as if someone has refinished it in some sort of blond/natural finish. How it affects the value is an open question ... generally, I have found that these kinds of things lower the value. In the end though, like everything in a free society, value is what is decided on the open market.
It was originally shipped to France through our distributor there. As far as the 1st fret, it look just worn down to me, but I can't be sure.

Hi Dan,
I guess I should go ahead and get the history on the rest of my family:
E11728 SR4
E18117 SR4
E32316 SR5
Thanks very much for your time!
RicRay, OK! I say let's get 'er done.
E11728 - SR, Trans Teal / rosewood, built 1/20/00 and shipped to Grandma's Music, Albuquerque, N.M.
E18117 - SR Black/maple/matching 'stock, built 09/08/00, also went to Grandma's
E32316 - SR5 in original Blue Dawn/rosewood matching, went to - surprise - Grandma's!
Grandma's is the place! Thanks for sharing -
Dan

Cool! I remember us doing some of those .... it was sort of a contrast to the Silhouette Special that came out the year before, same S-Spec finish, called Pearl Purple, and a white pearloid pickguard as we only offered on the S-Specials back then, other than this of course.
Another interesting note: of the 70 or so of these built, all in 1996, only 8 stayed in the U.S. - the rest were shipped to our distributor in Germany.
