I have one arriving tomorrow: Pearl Purple/Maple/Matching headstock, 2 band EQ. The store claims it arrived to them with a purple pickup cover, but then someone replaced it with a standard black. Could that have been stock?
I can provide the serial number tomorrow when the bass arrives.
    Thank you,
    Don
Don, not that I know of- the 1996 run, I am pretty sure, was just Sterlings. But in 1999, Pearl Purple was introduced as a standard color for all instruments - I suspect yours was made in that time period (1999-2001) but we can find out when we get the serial#.

Oh - and no, we have never used purple covers for StingRays.

Can you give me any info on a Sterling HS Nat/tort/rosewood, serial number F23089? I haven't been able to find any numbers close to it to get an idea of the production date.

    Thanks

Dasgre, your StingRay 5 was completed on 2/22/05 and was sent to the bass player of the band Disturbed. Matte black finish, right? Very cool at any rate.

    Dan,

Thank you very much for the information. The bass just arrived! Mint condition 2-band Stingray, Pearl purple/Maple/Matching headstock. I'm so glad it's not like "Barney purple"! Much darker. More like Minnesota Vikings purple. Please tell me as much as you can about it. Thank you.

    Serial #: E17424
