Don, not that I know of- the 1996 run, I am pretty sure, was just Sterlings. But in 1999, Pearl Purple was introduced as a standard color for all instruments - I suspect yours was made in that time period (1999-2001) but we can find out when we get the serial#.
Oh - and no, we have never used purple covers for StingRays.

Can you give me any info on a Sterling HS Nat/tort/rosewood, serial number F23089? I haven't been able to find any numbers close to it to get an idea of the production date.
Thanks
Ok i have stingray 5 that was said to be custom made for some guy in a big band. any info anyone can give from THIS serial number? Any details would be awesome. Can you get this kind of help with any other bass community? I think not!

Dan,
Thank you very much for the information. The bass just arrived! Mint condition 2-band Stingray, Pearl purple/Maple/Matching headstock. I'm so glad it's not like "Barney purple"!Much darker. More like Minnesota Vikings purple. Please tell me as much as you can about it. Thank you.
Serial #: E17424
'89 Stingray - Black / Maple BirdsEye, 2-Band.
DJ, yes, that bass was completed on 9/13/00 and was shipped to Corner Music in Nashville, the kings of 2-band EQ StingRays.
