bovinehost: Yes, I do agree with that, but if there's nothing wrong then there's nothing wrong.
Beth: I would compare Bongo to Tommy Lee Jones. Bad a$$ and just hot in a weird way...
cheezewiz: They should take their lace thongs off and play bass.
Stingray 5 Classic, coral red
Bongo 5 H, Dargie Delight, in some cave somewhere...
Bongo 5 HH, Black w/ rosewood neck
Heinz The Wonder Bass, going back to Jack...
Hi - Stingray 4 - E43939 Could I please get the D.O.B.?
Mine is a limited envy green with maple neck Ray4. E42227. I'm thinking around 9/04?
Here's another for the database. Judging from the info I found there I think DOB was around 10/94
Serial: 55512
Black body, black pg and PUP, 6 bolt, Maple fb, down sized bridge (serial above saddles not below).
One thing I didn't really glean from the docs I've read so far ... do prefixed/non-prefixed serials have any significant meaning? Can anyone provide more info on this bass?
Can provide pics if anyone wants for anything. Love this bass already and it's only my first day of ownership
Mark
Welcome Gerk. Sure doesn't take a whole day to fall in love with one does it?
I will let the other guys demand pics.
Just don't say I didn't warn ya.

You've got that right. Thanks!Originally Posted by tkarter

Yes.
It's complicated. It can't be explained in short form. All I can suggest is that you go:
HERE
And click the "Bridges" button.
55512 11/94
E43949 06/05
E42227 10/04
Thanks Gav and Derek. I puzzled out the prefixed stuff.
Gav: would you like a pic of my bridge for your pages? I noticed that there are no pics of the downsized bridge that have a non-prefixed serial above.
Bill: I'll dust off the camera and get some pics up in the pics thread RSN
Mark
Thank you, Derek.Originally Posted by Derek

Thanks.

In relation the serial prefixing, the main thing is pinpointing a not-before date. Eg, the serial became prefixed with an "E" (and moved to the neck plate) in 1998. A non-prefixed serial on the bridge indicates a Bass before 1998. But, with most things there's exceptions...eg "A" "B" and "D" prefixes. And with the "B" there's even more exceptions.
P.S. The issue of serials is only concerned with dating an instrument.
