Very cool! To have 2 of the same exact bass would be cool - and I agree, the Envy Green Limited was a hot ticket! Enjoy!Originally Posted by olorin

dan -
just got this Sterling, I'm wondering what color it is. It appears to be a really really really dark blue, but it says P Blue (Pearl Blue?) in the neck pocket. Here is the number: 40156

This Sterling is Pearl Blue (we later switched it around to call it Blue Pearl) and it was made on 3/22/94. The finish we used in those days was darker than it is now. The Sterling, like most of our instruments, was only available in a handful of finishes in those days. Since this was our only blue color we offered on the Sterling, the idea was to make the color pretty middle-of-the-road in terms of darkness/lightness.
Later, when we introduced darker blue colors like Midnight Blue Sparkle and Carbon Blue Pearl, the decision was made to lighten Blue Pearl, (as it was now called) up a bit.

As an after thought, I thought B027445 was your Red 1988.Originally Posted by Rod Trussbroken
If not, do you have the serial and date of the Red.
I have one pic of the White 1988. Do you have any more?

Sure. This bass was completed on 9/9/91 and shipped to our UK Distributor. The color is in fact Blueburst, which we used to offer on the StingRay/StingRay 5 until 1994 (We still offer it on the Steve Morse guitar, now called Morse Blueburst). The reason it was dropped for the basses? Difficult and time-consuming to shoot, and by 1994 our backorders were getting to be out of control, so this was a time-saving measure.
The body wood is poplar, the neck solid maple. There were less than 600 StingRays made in the Blueburst finish.
Rockin' bass!

Greetings from Hungary,
I have got a Sting Ray 5 3EQ with Piezzo Transculent Orange Bass with E20295 serial number.
I would like to know what year it was made.
Thanks your help,
David
David,
Your Absolutely Gorgeous bass was built on 1/12/01. (I say this because my main bass is also a trans orange rosewood with piezo!)
Sweet!
