    Sterling data

    Dan,
Here's mine: Sterling F02921...Neck 9/18/00 (Initial in pencil reads “W”. Also an imprint stamp with letter "B"). Body August (5?) rubber-stamped. Pencilled date illegible other than year 00. “TRANS” and “170” also appear in body pocket. Trans Gold with Rosewood. Black pg.

Just wondering how these dates correlate with any other info in your database, as well as the dealer it was shipped to..

    may thanks, Dan!!

    Mike,

Man, you have done your homework!

THE "W" is probably the person who worked on the neck. Not sure what the 'B' is for. '170' is the model #, Trans is because the body was pre-selected for a Trans finish such as Trans Gold.

This Sterling bass was completed on 9/20/00 and was shipped to Perkin's Music House in central Maine.

    Dan
    That is just well cool!!!!

They must have come into the UK via Strings and things and eventually ended up at the same dealer...my friend Nick.

Such a smart thing to happen...

    Stingray info?

    Hi there.
I have a rather battered but much loved stingray with serial no: 25993 on the bridge. At least i assume its the serial number as i cant find a number anywhere else.

Can you tell me anything about the bass?

I can tell you that the previous owner was Rob "Bass Thing" Jones of The Wonderstuff, and that I've had it since the early 90's - i think !

    Many thanks
    Steve Hill

    Steve,

Yes, the serial number would indeed be on the bridge. We show it as a Trans Red maple.

Your beloved if battered bass was built on November 4, 1987 and it was originally sent to our U.K. distributor. It sounds like it has had a colorful history. If only instruments could talk ...

    Steve,

    Re your 25993:

Just out of interest. Does the headstock logo have the two little music men on the extreme left or are they in the middle with their legs cut off (Ouch!).

Also does "Made In San Luis Obispo..." appear on the rear of the headstock?

    Gav,

This one shows up as a StingRay, Trans Red with a Rosewood in the 2-EQ format. We show it being completed on July 3rd of 1987 and shipped to the U.K.

    Battered 25993

Hi Guys. Thanks for the info. The red is a surprise as its definitely black now - apart from the bits that are down to the wood of course - with not a hint of red showing.

To answer the query regarding the logos etc. the 2 "musicmen" are standing under the "A" string machine head with legs intact. It also does say "MADE IN SAN LUIS OBISPO CALIFORNIA, USA" on the back of the headstock.

will try and organise a couple of pics for you

    thanks
    Steve
