    mobis,

Your bass was completed on 10/04/00. Regarding the woods we use: It is very possible your body be made of poplar, but it is more likely made of Southern ash. We are using pretty much all Southern ash.these days. We used some alder in the 80's to about 1997, but only on the trans red finish for the most part. In the latter part of the 90's we used both poplar and ash for the opaque instruments, and of course ash on the translucent ones. By the turn of the century we had gone using mostly ash on the opaque bodies as well.

Knowing the Italian stores, the StingRays don't sell too fast due to price. It may even be brand new, not a new-to-him. Just saying. Stitch, be sure to post pictures of your bass in this thread:

Thank you Dan! I guess that on the next month I will have to buy a present to my new StingRay... for its sixth birthday, of course!

Saxnbass, you're right! I have dreamed about a StingRay for years, but for me it always costed too much... the stores costantly keep a high price on MusicMan basses... but now the time was right, I found a great deal and now its miiiiiine!! UHAUAHUAHAUHAU... O.ò ... stop me please!
I can assure you, the bass I bought today has never been played from anyone. Guess what, I had to strip away the plastic covering from the... uhm... I don't know the english word, sorry.... well, the plastic that covers the stingray body

Now it's time to post some pictures

Chris, this one's practically vintage. 10/13/87 is the production date of your bass. The records show it to be a 2-band EQ in Natural Ash. The pickup would be a standard StingRay "same as it ever was" and the neck maple with a rosewood fretboard. Nice!

    Cheers,

    Dan

Yes, the best information I can find indicates that this was the only one shipped of its kind to the UK, at least through proper means.
