    Color wish list

    Here's a color I'd like to see:

A nice, rich, solid red. Not a pearl or metallic red...a Ferrari red. A lipstick red. A fire engine red. Not too over-the-top retina-burning vivid. It'd go real nice with a dark pg.

I was in Borders Books yesterday, flipping through some bass magazine and saw an ad with a F*nd*r J*zz in that color, with a black pg and rosewood fretboard. I have to say the combo looked REALLY good.

How about you? Anything you'd like to see added to the color chart? I mean, besides Flamingo Pearl....

Pardon me sir.....however did I miss "How about you? Anything you'd like to see added to the color chart?" statement. Yes, curly top maple would be on the color options chart.

    Just kidding...

I get the sense that there's a general dislike around here for the trend towards increasingly off-the-wall exotic tops, like those you see on a lot of boutique basses... but I may be wrong about that.

Some of those megabuck basses frankly look like something you'd find in a pile of mold-contaminated, water-ruined post-Katrina debris IMHO. But only the really extreme ones. I kind of like flame and quilt, when used appropriately (quilted Bongo? Ewwww...).

Actually fancy woods are already available in EBMM guitars....

...but those were designed from the outset with a separate top, weren't they?

The 20th Anniversary Stingray had a flame maple top, but AFAIK no other EBMM bass has had any such thing (Rod, please correct me if I'm wrong). Putting an exotic top on the body would mean changing the construction...and then it wouldn't be quite the same, right?

    Yellow

    Green
bovinehost: Yes, I do agree with that, but if there's nothing wrong then there's nothing wrong.
Beth: I would compare Bongo to Tommy Lee Jones. Bad a$$ and just hot in a weird way...
cheezewiz: They should take their lace thongs off and play bass.

Yeah, a taxi yellow would be cool.
Green...perhaps a dark non-metallic green (British Racing Green)?

Maybe I'm just reacting to the fact that the vast majority of Bongos are pearl. Nothing wrong with that...I love my DG...but there's something to be said for solid colors.

A nice mid green, not too dark, not too light. A nice deep green. I like that envy green. Too bad it isn't in production anymore.
