    Mesa 400+ + Ampeg 412HE + EBMM BONGO =

    GREAT TONE!!

I run an AB/Y box so I'm running both inputs. Great agressive sounding tone.

Bassically I get a good solid bottom end with some good drive on the top end.

    Not to mention the Bongo!

I'm hooked, now I just need a few effects and a Stingray and I'm set!

    Effects, schmafects. Only kidding.

That does indeed sound like a killer setup.

I only run an odd effect here and there.

The ones I use a lot are Big Muff (but I don't need this as much with the Mesa and the AB/Y box), and a Bass wah.

other than I'm pretty straight ahead.

Starting to think about returning to bass playing in the very near future.

Larry, a lot of the time I'm a Bass+strap guy, in a fairly quite room my Bongo is loud enough to practice with.

    I never do that!

If I can't feel it in my bones, I don't want to play.

Although I do practice with headphones from time to time just to keep the wife happy.

    I may want another soon.

I got mine pretty cheap because no one wanted it and it was hanging out in the store forever, they sold it to me for $479! I think they loaned it out a few times, but I got all the new warranty and what not.

When I wasw out cab shopping I tried that and the 410HLF classic and pro, when I got to the 412HE classic, I was sold!

Not kidding here. Great rig and ax. To me, I suppose it matters just what is meant by 'effects'. We all can use a little compression sometimes, some gigs and tunes call for some echo, but things that really alter the basic voice of a rig like that? Get a Crate and Squier if you're just gonna load down the signal path with toys. I'll hang onto your current rig and keep it excercised until you outgrow toyland and need it back ;-)

No, I'm very happy with the natural tone of my rig.

I very rarely use effects, and when I do run one it's more on an intro or bass breakdown, or my solo spot.

I never have more than 3 effects in my signal path either, and I run them all to input 2 (the high end), then run the bass direct to input 1. That way I don't mess with whole tone, just the top end.

I'm watching it. I'm hoping my bonus check comes in and I can still nab it.

My signifigant other knew I sold my J-bass and conveniently found a way to spend that money.

But, on a positive note she has no idea about my bonus.

    Ahh, clever man!

It's hard work keeping bass money hidden, isn't it?

Hmmm. Well mine has been used three times, and it has literally never left my house. It's sat in my room under a blanket for almost a year and a half. It still has like 3 years on the warranty, and it looks the same as the day I pulled it out of the box. I'd be willing to let it go for about how much you bought yours for. I really need to get this gone. So just let me know.
