how many bongos are in australia?

hi everyone. i've just put a stealth bongo 5er on hold from the bass centre(i will pick it up in a couple of weeks), and i was wondering how many bongos have been imported to australia in total?

p.s. i tried every single production 5 string i could get my hands on, and the bongo smoked every one of them. and it looks cool in stealth mode . and i got a killer price on it.

My guess is less than 10. There are 3 or 4 on the forum, and my guess is that there aren't many others out and about.

    I have a question . . . What are the "Stealth" Bongo's? Are they just Bongo's?

Yes they are just bongos; but they come with black hardware, tuners, pickguard and black finish. They aren't available with piezos.

Ah, cheers for that. I've heard of them before, but I didn't know what they were. I figured they would be something to do with the appearance.

I want to get the LTD pack, but black isn't my favourite colour . . . I wish we could get envy green.

It saddens me and frustrates the hell out of me when it comes to getting EBMM in this country. I went into the only store here in Brisbane that allegedly can get this product today and walked out. I will be either buying second hand (which I've never done before) or flying to the states. Simple as that.

Sorry to hear that mate, here in Melbourne the bass centre has a good range of EBMM's to choose, and second hand examples show up every now and then. here is their website: www.basscentre.com.au; the owner's name is Guy. They deliver to all of Australia.

Infact, i would love to know if they are the no.1 Aussie importer of EBMM's, cause they always manage to move their stock.

That's strange, cause there are a few shops in Sydney that have MM's, although they are almost always Stingrays.

Hi Colin . . fellow Brisbanite here . . I share the frustration but it's a small customer base in Oz so not much we can do. I've imported new and used basses from the US and Japan as I'm buggered if I'll pay Oz prices.
Unfortunately EB won't let dealers sell us new basses from the states (which is understandable . . maybe) although other manufacturers do.
It's a nice idea to have a family of dealers who you look after but at these prices my loyalty soon fades. In the old days it was ok but in the 21st century of global business? Nup.
I have 2 MM's and have been an MM fan since '77, my latest being an SR5 bought used from ebay just before xmas from the US with one small ding on the back I touched up with nail polish. I love it and it was hundreds cheaper than a used SR4the store east of Brisbane has had for over a year.
I support Oz biz when I can and willingly pay extra for local product ie supermarkets etc. but with books, CD's and instruments I think we're getting the rough end of the pineapple.

It's not just the prices tho' - that's only half of it.
We don't have a range to try out or purchase from. We either take a punt and buy blind or wait until we can afford to fly to the UK or US.
    Unless something else crops up . . . .

Unless things have changed since I bought my Bongo in Australia 2 years ago, phone CMC direct. Ask them which Bongo models and colour combinations are in the country. Choose the one you want, and they will ensure that the bass you choose will be shipped to the EBMM dealer of your choice. In my case, the HH Rolls Burgundy was a distributor demo that was travelling the country with a sales rep. CMC arranged for Allans in Adelaide to sell it to me.

I appreciate your replies, firstly I was referring to the guitars not basses and I personally know the boss of CMC (who is a great guy BTW). After all of that I still have no luck. No store here in Brisbane wants to know about the guitars, they will talk basses though. I've just thrown my hands in the air in despair. I also don't think this is the place for me continue as it looks like I'm complaining. This forum is for rejoicing about this fine product and if I have a problem I should be dealing with it in the proper way.

Colin, have you tried contacting CMC (the Australian EBMM distributor) with your questions?
