    Way O/T... My Birthday Present

Bass is my mid-life crisis, cheaper than an affair and a lot less guilt, but these things are still what I'm best at, so I bought one.

It's a MIDI wind controller with a synth built in. My current wind controller is hooked up to a box of synths the size of a fridge, this thing has a two voice synth on board. So you can plug in a set of head phones and play, that's all you need and all on batteries.

I often don't take my wind controller to jams because it's too much stuff to carry around, this may change now, if I can program some decent sounds in this thing.

Yes! There are several ways to control the filters (wah-wah if filters "101").

My biggest concern is that the EWI4000s has no moving keys, sort of a touch lamp affair. Michael Brecker seems to have no problem with this type of controller, but I'm trained to keep my fingers on the keys, that won't work on the Akai, but hey, who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks.
