FWIW the change won't take very long to happen. I am betting Jon doesn't spend two days on a setup.
Once you have it figured out it will stick with you for a lifetime so it is worth the time invested.

Yeah, I figured it was pretty much instant, or at the very most an hour or two. I just taking so long because I have a day job and a night job (aka the family, two young kids)
Edit: I found Rod's old post, very helpful. The relief is somewhere between a sheet of paper and a business card, that seems to work fine. The string height was all off, so I set it to 3/32" at the 17th fret, and set the pickups back to around 8/32" and 6/32" for the neck/bridge. Will have to set intonation later, but I think this will work out nice. Playing along with a CD sounded great, perhaps a bit off (intonation heheh).

It's amazing what a proper setup will do. I'm thrilled....
thanks for the help!
I am glad you got it like you want. Now go gig and have some fun. Or just play in the bedroom and have fun. When the Bongo is right it is the most awesome sound I have ever heard out of a bass.
Not that what I say matters as I am about as hack as they come around here.
