    Found [nomedia="http://youtube.com/watch?v=BR-yvl8oqQw"]YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.[/nomedia] today. I think he played stick on the album. Listen how he funks it up live on fretless. Some of his fills are great and don't get in the way of the song at all. A truly special player. The Stingray looks fantastic too.

    i gotta echo todd4ta's response: "Elvis Costello - many"

    although i was old enough to listen to his stuff in the 80's, i was busy being a metalhead

    now, i'm discovering some great stuff that still holds up today, and Elvis' stuff is right up there.

    although they're technically from the late 70's, notables include:

    [nomedia="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5fbhIzN9-p0"]YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.[/nomedia]

    * although not the original bass player, the bass line itself is quite faithful to the album's

    Aw hell no, if you are gonna go all Paul Young for a bass line there is only one song.

    that is some pretty sick fretless stingray-ing (especially that lick before the bridge).
    I went and bought the record bassed on that song alone back then. I hated the other songs!
    Also, isnt it funny how pretty much everything out of the UK back then had teh same bass sound? Mostly a fretless with tons of compression and chorus.

    ps is it just me or are his backup singers simply awful?

    Davey Faragher is a monster. He is just as good as Bruce Thomas, if not better, IMO.

    Dudley! XTC?

    As cool as I thought you were before!

    Colin Moulding has played some of my favorite bass lines of all time, and Andy Partridge is a songwriting genius.

    Right now, I'd have to say "Rio". I'm currently in a Duran Duran tribute band, and talk about a bass line that gets attention!
