my G.K. rig is small & light weight & sounds absolutly awesome.
i play in a metal bank & with my 'ray i get a very Flea type of sound,it is with out doubt the best rig i have used in the 27 years i've being playing.
check out the bass centre in london's website, they have some good prices on G.K.
+ if its good enough for Flea its good enough for me.

Yeah - thanks I might do that sometime when I need to get more gear - it'll be either GK or markbass I think - but I really like this markbass - I want a bass like yours now - Saw the pics in your post earlier - nice piece of kit!

Played out this past weekend... My Dad helped me lug my rig in and out of my basement studio/music room. SKB roto-rack-mounted Hartke HA5500 and two Hartke 410XL cabinets...

Conversation while bringing everything up to go out to the gig: "I'm considering replacing this amp set-up for something a bit easier on the back."

Conversation bringing everything back down after the gig: "Forget what I said about replacing this rig - I loved my tone today!"

True story - but quite simply my story - you'll find what works for you...

I take it you're a former guitarist who has only recently coverted to bass?

Nah - Bass player through & through...

Side bar to the "Dad helped me with my rig" commentary... He had never been to see me play live - ever (I am 41)... We coordinated a bit of vacation time to get him into New Jersey so's he could get to experience the band.

He got both the front-stage and back-stage experience!

I like being able to carry my whole rig by myself, without breaking my back. Oh yeah it also sounds freak'n amazing. So I guess that's a plus.
