A Stealthy Arrival -- My new STEALTH BONGO!!!

UPS runs late around my neighborhood. I was watching closely and didn't hear or see anything. Just before 9pm I go to close the garage door and there's THE BOX. Steve is right, this bugger is dead nuts mint condition. I don't know who Mel Brown is, but he handled this bomb carefully. Plugged it in immediately. Sounds similar to the single H Stingray, but magnified X's ten!

    I will sleep well tonight.

Nice stable you got going there, Gary.

Mel Brown, I am told, is The Smooth Jazz Bassist.

I know nothing about smooth jazz....maybe a little about lumpy jazz...but glad that made it into your hands.

Tell us more about the sound when u get a chance. I'm very anxious to hear it for myself with the pickup being right where it should be.

I was just getting ready to say, "Don't let Grace see that thing."

    Too late.

Jazz rules. You should loan him a fretless Bongo with flats then.

Wow! It appears that I made a good choice with my single bucker order!

Congrats, very classy and sinister looking at the same time!

I don't know who Mel Brown is

    www.melbrown.net

Mel currently has 4 cds in the top ten of the charts in the "Smooth Jazz" category including the new release by Waymon Tisdale which is #1.

He did play that bass and told me that he even used it on two different recording sessions and he dug it....he just would rather have a Bongo 5 HS instead.

He's currently playing a bass I had made for him by another manufacturer I represent that I dropped off to him the night I picked up the Stealth.

Anyone coming to The School of Bass in October will get to see Mel in action as he is one of our featured artists along with Chuck Rainey and Bobby Vega.

OK, Grace. Here's some first impressions:

It's light. Not sure if it's this piece of wood, or one less p'up that makes it so light.

The finish is cool. Not just cause it's black, but the feel of the finish is nice.

The tone: imagine combining a single H Stingray with a dual pup Bongo, and you've got the best of both worlds. Deep, punchy, distinctly Music Man. An 18v preamp with one Humbucker! Yowza!

Hands down, this is THE coolest bass I've ever seen. I can't wait to use it at practice and gigs.

The Stealth Bongo, oh yeeeeeeea!!!!! I hope to own one myself someday.... if I like the Bongo sound as much or more than the Sterling. Stealth is it Baby! It accents the design beautifully. Great choice. The only thing missing is a photo of you holding or playing it.

Freddy, I see you fixed your avatar to match the bass too

-How much more black can it get?
    -None. None more black.

Cool bass, although I tend to choose basses that are to be seen from a distance. Wear black with that one on stage, and it'll appear you're performing the levitating head routine
bovinehost: Yes, I do agree with that, but if there's nothing wrong then there's nothing wrong.
Beth: I would compare Bongo to Tommy Lee Jones. Bad a$$ and just hot in a weird way...
cheezewiz: They should take their lace thongs off and play bass.

    Stingray 5 Classic, coral red
Bongo 5 H, Dargie Delight, in some cave somewhere...
Bongo 5 HH, Black w/ rosewood neck
Heinz The Wonder Bass, going back to Jack...
