    Stingray 5

    hey, all

I have been looking at a white Stingray 5 at a local GC. The sales guy is claiming that it is a 2000 or 2001, but on the back of it, the battery compartment is the metal screw on type. I bought my Sterling in 99 and it has the plastic flip open battery compartment. I've seen pics of the backs of new Stingrays and the all have that plastic flip open battery compartment. I think this guy at GC is trying to sell me a much older Ray 5. Anybody know what year they switched from the metal screw on cover to the plastic flip open cover?

Why don't you just jot down the serial number and post it here to learn the date that it was made?

You are correct.......I don't know what year they started BUT a 2000 or 2001 should most definitely have the plastic battery compartment. My SR5 is a '98 & has the plastic one.

I don't think older = worse, but it will generally equate to more wear which = lower price.

Plus the sales guy should really either say "I don't know" or "I'll find out", IMO.
