Splendiferous Snazzy Sparkle Sterling For Trade

I've been on the fence about this bass because it obviously came from a bad home and I wanted to make sure it knew that we weren't all like that, that life wasn't just about abuse and finger gunk and nicks on the headstock.

If you don't know the story on this bass, it's a Stratus Blue Sparkle Sterling that I found on eBay - the details are here.

And here's a photo of the splendid beast:

Obviously, this isn't in mint condition. Hah. Far from it! But it is in pristine PLAYING condition, frets are in good shape, nothing wrong with it functionally at all.

I haven't gotten around to sanding and re-gunstock-oiling the back of the neck, which is something that should be done if the bass is going to go back into playing mode. (It's mostly been sitting around since I fixed it up. Fun to look at.)

The bad: lots of nicks and bashes here and there, although the sparkle finish obviously hides it all quite nicely. The headstock appears to have been gnawed by angry beavers. Someone, perhaps a rabid monkey, re-wired the poor beast and I had to get in there (phone calls to Jon) and re-solder it up. Nothing to worry about, it works perfectly now, but it ain't factory fresh is what I'm saying.

The good: plays just like you want a Sterling to play. Is very shiny and gaudy and is quite the impudent strumpet. Has new-ish tuners all the way 'round, new knobs and a new switch tip (no one wants an old switch tip).

Also has a case which works fine but does not look so good. (Like me.)

I suppose I could sell it but I'd rather have another bass so thought I'd offer it up here first. (Sparkle Sluts, here's your shot!)

What I might want? I don't know. Maybe a Stingray? A Bongo 4HS would be excellent, too. A Stingray would be fine and no, I'm not worried about whether it's in 'like new' condition as long as it plays fine, sounds good and doesn't weigh too much. Oh, no maple boards.

So shoot me an email if you have something like that and might want this snazzy beast. I might end up keeping it or selling it outright, but this seems like more fun.

What, a house in England? I'm almost sure I'd have to kick in some cash on THAT deal.

Azzy, you have a perfectly lovely Sterling. It's new, isn't it? You don't want this gaudy old painted whore.

Ritchie, let me see what develops with the trade offer. I suppose I could accept nasty old cash......you know, if I have to.

It's 4 years old, but new to me. However I have lusted after that bass since you first bought it!

And ja, a house. Well, technically a flat, but I can only afford it as I only need a mortgage for 50%, then I pay piddly rent on the half I don't own - should work out about the same as the rent I pay now overall, but we'll see. Keep fingers and toes crossed etc. Hopefully. With luck. If the bank loves me.

I'm going to miss this opportunity to turn into a trading gear whore

    No maple boards?

We need to pass some Affirmative Action regulations to deal with the discrimination against maple boards!

    I'm writing Obama right now!
