I listened to one it was plenty hot. Sounded great. How do you troubleshoot a problem if it seems to be less than you think it should be?

BP I would check the website if I had a clue.

BP ... the Eden set-up instructions basically say ... While playing your lowest note (or loudest), slowly turn the Input Gain up until the compressor or set level light begins to blink with regularity. If you have disengaged the compressor, the set level light will barely blink on your loudest notes when you hit the "sweet spot". They recommend you don't increase gain beyond this point unless you engage the compressor.

I took out the battery, tested it, cleaned the battery terminals and reset-up the amp. I can make the compressor blink with gain at 2 o'clock ... or if I slap, about 1 o'clock ... maybe this is OK. This is my first "real" bass/rig, so I don't really have much to compare it to. Maybe I just need a Bongo

Yes, thanks, tried a different cable.

    I'm thinking maybe it's a non-problem and I just don't know any better ... maybe gain at 2 o'clock is OK?

I would try a different amp.

I have heard one of those and they aren't submissive in any way.

If you think it isn't loud then there is probably a problem and maybe not with the bass or your ears.

Or it is simple. And we all are missing it.

Me I know nothing about Eden amps.

My Laney you have to set the gain about 3 and crank the volume wide open. It gets loud clips if you pluck hard.

My Peavey you set the gain at 4 the volume at 4 and put in ear plugs.

I don't have anything but single pup MM basses.

The HH I heard sounded just like them and maybe louder.

Thanks Guys. I haven't played in a band situation with this rig yet. I think the volume is OK, although I'd love to get this thing out of my basement and try it in a different room/acoustics. The gain observation can be made with the master off ... it's more of a gain versus volume thing if you know what I mean.

I would if I were me which I am sometimes not always. Dime the volume and then add the gain in when I got with the band.

I wouldn't worry about that light until I heard it clipping in the speakers either. That might just be a resistor or something. LOL I dunno.

My Laney may get broke out for Christmas. It didn't work until all the lights were blinking.

Might not hurt to take your bass somewhere and try it out on some different amps.

An SR HH will cover a big room without much amp. I know from hearing not playing.

Having the gain at 2 o'clock certainly wouldn't worry me.

I've always believed that having the gain as high as possible without 'clipping' is the correct way to set up the amp.

My gain is at 2 o'clock on my Yammy BBT500H too, and that's with a Bongo pumping into it.

    Hope this helps.

Just do it the way the eden site recommends, and you'll be fine. Where your gain knob points is of no interest whatsoever, you know All it does is adjust the input to the proper level for the power amp to work with.
Now, if you couldn't get the gain light to blink with the gain dimed, that would be a reason to worry
bovinehost: Yes, I do agree with that, but if there's nothing wrong then there's nothing wrong.
Beth: I would compare Bongo to Tommy Lee Jones. Bad a$$ and just hot in a weird way...
cheezewiz: They should take their lace thongs off and play bass.
