    HH Ray Output

I'm wondering if I have normal or low output on my new HH Ray.

Fresh battery in Ray. Amp settings flat. With the gain on my amp at 3 o'clock say, I would have to dig pretty hard to get the compressor to come on ... with mids on the Ray boosted almost full and bass boosted half way between flat and full.

Is there a way to test how "hot" the output is ... or is this normal and I should not be concerned.

Did you plugged the bass in the active input or the passive one?

Thanks for your question ... active. If I pull the gain button out, it lowers the input gain ... it's pushed in and active.

Yes! There is a way to test it. Send it to me and I will gig test it with my Mesa Boogie laboratory and publish the results.

You can never be too careful .

    Send it to me ...now

I had that same issue with my almost new honeyburst SR5HH. Output level was so low that the attenuator button had to be off for me to even hear it. I actually emailed Customer Support and was going to send it in, but over the weekend I tried messing with it, cleaned the battery contacts, pulled the springs back a bit, and ended up swapping out the batteries four times. The fourth time was a charm and it's been fine since...weird but hey it works. I'm wondering if it was dropped hard by the shipper and the battery cavity/springs somehow got compressed and messed up?

I reckon I am the dummy here so I will ask. How do ya know?

I listened to one it was plenty hot. Sounded great. How do you troubleshoot a problem if it seems to be less than you think it should be?

BP I would check the website if I had a clue.

Thanks sonig! That's something I will look in to tomorrow. I noticed you have quite a MM collection ... do you find a noticeable difference in output between your Ray/Bongo/Sterling/SUB?

The Guys on the Eden Forum often say their input gain is at 12:00 or 11:00 type thing with a similar rig, so I was judging by that.

Some amps you run the gain up on some you run the gain down the volume up.
EB basses I own wll make you figure it out.

Having trouble myself understanding what could make the HH not raise an amp head clear off the cab it is setting on.

The one I heard being played was really strong. Wasn't a lot of amp to it.

The Rays, SUB and Sterling are pretty much the same output-wise. Bongos are louder ...I have to attenuate the input on my G-K or it clips sometimes. The three Rays are strung with different brands and are tonally quite different .
