    Bongo Mayhem in Video Form!!!

My band just put some clips up on you tube of some recent gigs and there's plenty of Bongo action to enjoy. The first two are covers and the last one is an original on solo acoustic guitar thrown in for good measure. We should have some actual blues up soon.

    I really enjoyed that.

For a 3-piece you have a huge sound.

Out of interest, which PUP combination do you reach for most in a live situation?

I haven't gigged my Bongos yet, but I find the H is best for driving root note rock a la Blondie, Undertones etc, whereas if the bassline is a little more complex the HH seems better.

I usually grab the HH first and switch depending on the song. You wouldn't know it based on these clips but we are primarily a blues trio. The HH has a fatter tone that's perfect for laying down that groove and I prefer it for our slower tunes or a nice greasy shuffle. Also, since we are a 3 piece it's important that I fill up the bottom end so when Brad goes for a solo that everything doesn't fall apart.

On the other hand, there are tunes that just beg for the rock'n cut that you can only get from that single H sweet spot. It sounds awesome for the more aggressive tunes and finger funk. I do think that the HH's B string sounds slightly better due to it's thicker tone but I could also see the H fitting in better with a dual guitar band.
