    Bongo Volume problem advice

    Hey dudes!

I'd like a bit of sage like advice please!

At rehearsal last Friday, my bongo had a problem with "lost volume"

During the week before i did my usual restring routine and cleaned every square in of the gorgeous thing etc, but on this occasion, I changed the batteries (for identical duracell procell's) and tightened up a loose screw on the pup to make it sit nice and paralell with trhe strings.

At rehearsal, the volume issue only occured when i had pad on my head (ampeg svt) as i normally do to ensure i dont destroy the world with bass

I changed back to my original battery's, checked all cables, connections etc but im at a loss as to what it could be?

    Battery caused a problem?
    Pup tweaking caused a problem?
Bongo in perfect working order and SVT playing up?

boy is this making me nervous! i'm worried!

thanks for your help in advance (as usual you crazy awesome heroes!)

I had something similar with a Godin running through my svt 3pro some years ago now..
The volume just kind of dropped off and I figured the battery in the guitar was dying..
Changed the battery but the volume never came back up.
As this amp has 5 tubes in it I decided to do a re tube of the amp..
In my case that seemed to be the answer.. I probably only needed to find the bad tube and replace it But decided as I had it open on a hole sale replacement..
    Hope this help you..

Try another bass through the amp, that will tell you if the amp is shot, or try the bass through another amp.

many potential issues with new batteries.

for some reason, some manufacturers have changed the shape of their 9volts, very slightly, but it does monkey sometimes with battery compartments.(even thought they are 'identical' procells, maybe try just the regular Duracells?)

like stated above already, try another bass through the amp to rule out the amp. then maybe just reassess the battery compartment.

    cheers for the advice guys!

I guess i should have thought to try another bass!! argh!

the problem being that my rig "lives" down the practice studio when i'm not gigging, i'll book myself in for some testing... i can always beat the sh*t out of the "other" bass to take out my frustrations!!!

    cheers people!!
