    Introduction

I've started quite the commotion recently and do apologize about that.

Hey, my name is Eric. I live in Italy, near Venice. I recently got a '93 Sterling and love it. I'm trying to get a StingRay 5 tomorrow at a large fairly local (about an hour away from where I live) music store. I'll be getting rid of 2 Fenders for it. I was born in Germany, and then move to Italy about 6 years ago. I'm a dual-citizen, here kind of through military. It's complicated and that's the easiest way to put it. I've been all over Germany, bought Polish pottery in Poland, been to the Czech republic, seen Strasburgh France, been to Venice multiple times, seen NYC, had fresh fish from southern Italy, going to England in a few weeks and then to Rome and Vatican. I've had 3 jobs (1 was a contractor job, 1 was in the fast food business, and 3rd (my current job) I work with computers and printers and their accessories as a Vendor for a company). I'm an Eagle Scout in the BSA, Vigil Honor in the OA, and have my Silver Award in Venture scouts (so total, it's like having 3 Eagle Scouts in different scouting branches). I play a few different instruments with varying degrees of skill (including Bass, Sax, Guitar, Drums). I graduated from High School a year early. I'm planning on going to college in England as a Music Major playing bass. I also dance off an on (Tap mainly, some jazz) as my feet allow, due to the injuries involved (the main one being ingrown toenails). If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I don't promise to answer all of them, but I will answer ones that make sense.
    Eric

I know I post a lot. I have quite a bit of time on my hands being out of school and not having a job where I work a lot of hours. I like to spend time places I enjoy, in my room posting in a forum with fellow EB fans.

When your 'average number of posts per day' is more than twice what mine is, you might want to just cut down on the coffee a bit and ask yourself what it is you're bringing to the table.

The way I see it, there are a few good things to offer up:

    a. actual hard information
    b. an informed opinion
    c. a humorous aside

Sometimes these are all hard to come by, so I keep my mouth shut. When it comes to the info or the opinion, keep in mind that some of the members have been around a LONG time and any old info or half-baked opinion will cause them to larf and scoff and give you grief. (They mean well.)

When it comes to humor, let Oldtoe or bassmonkeee go first and then decide if you can compete. (Another reason I keep my mouth shut even when I'm feeling all frisky - they're all smarter and funnier than I am.)

So read and learn and ask any questions, but learn first and you'll be fine.

And welcome. Sounds like you're a man of many talents!

    the jack of few trades,

    Jack

    Welcome Eric!

It was a Sterling that brought me to the EBMM family a while back... I have since been completely pulled over to the "Bongo-Side".

Good luck with your Stingray purchase tomorrow - pics when you bring it home!

Of course there will be pics. And it's IF I bring it home. I'm gonna take it home and play it first though of course. You know that "just got it" thing. I don't know how it works, but it always gets me. I was a Fender Jazz player, so making the switch with a Sterling was probably the best bet. And if you're wondering, it's Debbie Johnson's fault that I even got interested in MusicMan basses, especially the StingRay5. She's the bass player for the all-female country band Cowboy Crush. I saw them live this past summer and was able to hang out with the girls for a bit after the show. Was a lot of fun.

    Jack,
I agree with you up to a point about eager Eric, but are you saying he should bow in deference to old timers here with a high post count?..spleh!
c'mon now..it just this sort of talk that makes this place hard to get into for a lot of peeps I've come across on other boards.
I've got 400 posts in a little over a year (1 a day?) but I've been playing MM basses 20 years so where do I sit?

I did not say my word weighs more cause of post counts. Actually, I didn't say anything about my word holding weight at all, did I? I don't remember saying that.

Ah, that explains the handle. I was thinking RomanBass would have been more appropriate, but it seems you're from Saxony. Welcome.

And here I thought he was a fan of Saxon, the NWOBHM band.

Komp, that's exactly what it is. Sax(ophone) was my first instrument, and bass is my main instrument.
