    OT: amp caught fire

so i get a voicemail from my band's drummer last night... his other band was in the studio practicing (they borrow my rig) and in the middle of a song my GK caught fire... not just smoke, actual flames were visible.

sucks. theyre good guys so they didnt try to pawn off the blame or anything like that. but my rig was just fine at my gig on saturday and now, poof. I cruised by to check out what happened and they had it all connected properly - nothing funky going on, so i have no reason to say "you did xyz which killed it".

sucks - they feel bad and are gonna chip in for repairs or whatever but its just a pain in the arse. bleh

If my stuff's gonna catch fire at least it should be at a time where i can see it.

Correction: If your stuff's gonna catch fire it should be at a time when a big audience can see it and be duly entertained by it!

    Sorry to hear that.

On the bright side, it's a good excuse to invest in a new amp.

I know that if one of our basses spontaneously burst into flames, people would be beating down the door looking for a warranty repair on it... Couldn't hurt to ask.

Let me know if you need a loaner. I'm not currently with a band, so I can loan you my 1001RBII.

I feel for ya, Arin. My bass player smoked two amps at a single gig.. both on the same song! At least it was the last song in our final set!
