Question StingRay - Nitro Cellulous Lacquer Finish ?

So, I bought this guitar stand from an online music store, and when it came in yesterday, there's a tag hanging on it saying "Attention: Not recommended for guitars with Nitro Cellulous Lacquer finish. The foam material may cause an unexpected reaction that may deteriorate the finish."

Pete says my Ray shipped from SLO yesterday, and I want to make sure this stand will not '' deteriorate '' my new bass. That would SUCK!

It'll be fine. Stingrays are finished in Polyurethane coating.

Be careful. My non-nitro finished 1979 ended up with 2 black marks where the body rests on the stand.

It seems to penetrate into the clear finish. The marks have slowly faded over the last couple of years though.
