The Carvin amps offer great power and features for the money and sound awesome with Sterlings and SRs.

I'm a big Tech21 fan. They have the Landmark 60 and Landmark 120 combo amps. The big draw here is the SansAmp DI built-in. You can go straight to the mixing board from the DI and use the amp itself as a monitor. For your application, I'd look at the 120. Don't know how much they'd be in the UK, though. I've got a Landmark 300 head and I love it!

Check out the Eden N Series. They are priced right and sound great.

I use this and I like it a lot. You can find them used at a decent price if you're lucky.

    Backline 210

If you want new, I would consider the Backline 210. I looked at everything available (at GC anyway) in the sub $500 price. I know that there are better amps, for better money, but I like it with my Sterling.

I wasn't too impressed with the Ampegs, Fenders, Crates or Line 6s in that price range. Unfortunately, most everthing in that price range is now made in the far east. I bought the last NIB USA Backline from my local GC's stock.

    Good luck.

Why a 100W combo? Why new? Why not check out eBay to get a used head and 2 x 10 or 1 x 15 cab?
    Have bass. Will play.

I got a laney r5 (300w 2x10) combo off ebay recently, £220. There is now a new version, the rb7 - but look into an r5. mine makes my P-bass and my fretless J sound uber good - and it has an output for an extension cab which is a very nice feature.

And laney has awsome british build quality!
