Altanta Forumites: Smoking Deals at Marietta GC

    Hey.

I stopped by the Marietta GC on the way to the airport this afternoon and they have rock-bottom prices on a few EBMM basses.

    A used WHITE Bongo 5 H+S/C+Piezo for $800

A 30th SR4 for, well, not much. The cheapest I have seen one. With tax it would come out to less than half of retail.

A Stealth Bongo 5 for, um, three figures..

Somehow I withstood the temptation, for a change...

    A kinder, gentler collection...

Rex, wish I had known you were in ATL.

Stanky and I could have shot up the road.

    Hey Travis

I wasn't free this week very much -- I was teaching every day and entertaining each night.

I was thinking of calling you to see what you guys (and Billy) were doing tonight, but I am getting out of town early to miss this round of snow.

    Maybe next time...

    A kinder, gentler collection...

Crap, Rex. I thought you were going to be in town this weekend, not leaving today.

I was just logging on to send you my cell phone number.

That's my old white Sc/H/p Bongo that was sent instead of the correct fretless version. It doesn't come with a case because this one was built before the Bongos came with cases.

I'm tempted to go there tomorrow and buy it.

    Hmmm.

You're better off getting out while the gettin's good, too. Georgia just isn't equipped to handle ice since it so rarely happens. I dropped Liegia at the airport and it's starting to get a bit crazy. I guess I'm going to curl up with my fretless Bongo, and watch some Blu-Rays.

I understand Rex. Seems like we have enough area forumites to have a decent get together, and hopefully we can swing it next time around.

    Be safe man.

Hiya Rex - maybe next time you'll have more time and we all can do something.

I'm going to the MAREITTA GC tonight and buying another Little Mark II

and Rex, thanks for the heads-up - I went to the GC in Marietta, and they had some SMOKIN' deals.

Hello everyone, I'm a new forum member and I wanted to ask a question about this GC in Marietta. Did they already sell the MM Stingray 30th? I've been looking for a Stingray to go along with my Sterling, but when I called the GC asking, all they said they had was a new 30th in stock for the regular 1750 retail price. If I'm going to end up driving 4 hours, I'd like to know for sure if they have that dirt cheap 30th anniversary. Thanks in advance for your time.

    hello randomevent
    welcome to the forum!

that is the usual salesmen tricks..
sell it for as much as you can get, so if youre not in the store... you cant see what price its tagged with
call again and let them know you know the price in the store, then have em put it away while you take the drive

just put flats on the bongo!!
just put roundwounds on your fretless!!

    trussrod adjustment:
less relief / flatter = lower action
more relief / bow = higher action
do NOT use cheap tools to adjust with. they might break and scrape up your pressious!
also, if you are lucky enough to have a 100th namm sr4: the truss works the other way around on that one!

Thanks for the welcome. The problem is that I don't know the price...

I'd make the drive if I knew the price, but that's why I'm asking you guys who have actually seen it. Or if I'm lucky they'd price match it at my GC. If anyone can let me know the price, so that I may call GC back and hopefully get that price shipped to me, or price match it at my local GC, I would really appreciate it. I don't have enough to get that and a Sterling 5 right now, so a good deal on a 30th would seriously make my year.

Oh man, I would love to get that White Bongo... too bad I'm in Virginia

Do you guys think they might let me put it on lay-a-way and have it sent up here, or will they not be a huge fan of that?

I might just call tomorrow morning and find out.
