    Vintage? Stingray

Hi, I am curious if a 20+ year old Ray has added vintage or collector value if in reasonably good shape?

Technically speaking, 25 years is considered the age at which something becomes "vintage".

So i've heard, as far as cars go, 20 years is 'classic' and 25 years is vintage. Dunno if the same goes for basses. Think I might have to hang on to my '89 ray a bit longer.

Id say an 89 ray is old... to me vintage instruments start atleast pre 80... and thats putting it lightly... the others are just old. An 89 ray might be cool to have around but i wouldnt say its intage.... not yet anyway...

I would say probably not. It may have some desirable features that MM enthusiasts generally look at such as a two band EQ, maybe some transitional features such as a metal battery cover and the older style bridge.

To the right buyer it may be desirable, but I don't think it's going to net you that much more, if any, on resale.

    to each his own.

I enjoy my EBMM and my Pre-EB SR4s equally but they are two completely different instruments which share asthetical resemblance but feel and sound different enough for me to keep both.
