    Unhappy Dreading a gig........

Has anyone else ever had a gig scheduled that you simply dreaded performing?

Our guitarist booked us into a place here that I affectionately refer to as the "Drink - N - Puke".

It's a horrible little dive bar built in what looks like a surplus quonset hut.

I did a fill in gig there for a friend last year and the place is just horrible.

It reeked of stale beer and urine. Not to mention that the toilet was overflowing with brown water and a smashed beer can.

And there appeared to be about a dozen feral cats living under the hut.

Well, that's where I'll be tonight and tomorrow afternoon.........

    DAMN!

I have an Ibañez bass that I will be using.

I'd fear for my Dargie in this dive!

It costs a lot of money to almost die.

Sounds like the Double Deuce in Roadhouse before Swayze got there and cleaned it up.

That's what we refer to in my house as a "Modulus and Mag-Lite gig." *

*in case of the worst, carbon fiber neck won't break if used defending against airborne beer bottles or inebriated foes. If there is time to put down your bass, go for the Mag-Lite and pepper spray then seek nearest exit.

    Have fun, Ritchie! Bring Febreze.

No, I swore off blues many years ago. I still get the odd call from blues bands wanting a bass player. I usually just hang up.

I have been a "basement" player for years - never been in a band/done a gig/played in a bar. That actually sounds attractive to me !
