    Don't see much about FX pedals around here...post your favorites!

    Just an observation, but I don't see any discussion on pedals paired with Musicman basses here. Yeah, MM basses are the bomb for tone, but does anybody have a favorite pedal or two that help out your sound?

    I'll jump in. I play an SR5HH and a Bongo 5HH. On my FX board, I have a Korg Pitchblack tuner followed by a Demeter Compulator compressor, an Xotic RC preamp, an Xotic Bass Booster (for when I want to break up the sound a bit). Following are two FX pedals: A Maxon Series 9 Phase pedal and a Maxon Series 9 Chorus. Both add a little something for the right song(s). The whole mess is powered by a Dunlop brick and mounted to a Pedaltrain Jr. board.

    You can see pics here:

    What pedals do you use with your MM bass(es)??

    wow nice pedalboard!

    in my cover band i pretty much only use my amp onboard compressor and my strobostomp tuner.

    in my drone/noise band: EHX stereo memory man with hazarai and a line6 ubermetal. I play with the feedback with the ubermetal....fun! the EHX pedal is one of the most interesting pedal i've ever had It's a looper, delay, echo....again fun!

    Let's see here... I use the same board for guitar.

    Peterson Strobostomp --> Boss DS-1--> EHX Little Big Muff --> EHX POG --> EHX Small Clone --> EHX Small Stone --> TC Electronic Nova Delay --> Amp

    Powered by a DC Brick and mounted to an AXS Pedalboard. In the dug out is a Morley Classic Wah and a TC Electronic Nova Modulator.

    The typical combinations that I use are Distortion/Chorus (for my sick underwater tone), Phaser/Delay for any solos that I do in the upper register. The POG is there for more subs and a slightly added top octave (just barely in there).

    I've been getting more and more in to guitar but I've been trying to buy pedals that will work well with bass also.

    I currently have:

    Visual Sound: Jekyll and Hyde, H2O, Comp 66

    Fulltone: Bass Drive 2 Mosfet, Clyde Deluxe Wah

    Boss: DD7 Delay, OC3 Super Octave, BF3 Flanger

    Peterson: Strobostomp 2

    I have a Pedaltrain2 board. Still working out the kinks to make it look neat and clean. I power everything with a Visual Sound OneSpot and it's worked great.

    Yes, I play in a stoner rock band, using a lot of overdrive / fuzz. But as always the Dunlop Basswah for added funkyness..

    Here's my current board. As much as I dig the sounds of the Deep Impact, it doesn't get used much with the music I play, so I might cash in on the huge dollars they sell for on ebay. Everything else on the board are keepers.

    I've been playing bass for over 40 years and never used effects until last year. That's when I decided to buy a Boss ME-50B Multiple Effects unit, that way i've got everything that I need covered off in one unit. For me, it works.

    MXR M80 DI. I have the blowtorch too but I really favor the M80, best pedal I've owned.

    The only "effects" I have are rack mounted. Limiter/compressor and a dual 15 band EQ. I like the clean sound personally and I have been complimented on my sound.....too bad it wasn't the playing...LOL
    "Welcome to the addiction!" is now patented by Koogie2k......if used by anyone other than Koogie2k....you must mail him a US nickel for each time said/typed or signed.......

    a simple set-up

    Furman SPB-8 Board.

    Erine Ball Jr. Volume >> Boss Tuner >> Ampeg 'Sub-Blaster' octave >> Washburn Wah >> Gallien-Krueger 'Diesel Dawg' OD/Distortion >> Boss Chorus >> Boss Limiter/Enhancer >>>>>> to best 'effects pedal' of them all…Ampeg SVT-VR (USA made) and Ampeg 810AV cabinet.

    (note - these last two do not fit on the board).

    Mostly only ever use the first two and the last two...."the others are just for effects"

    Small Board:

    EBMM SR4 -> Korg DT-3 (Tuner) -> MXR M-88 (Octaver) -> EHX Q-Tron+ XO (Envelope Filter) -> MXR Phase 90 -> SansAmp Programmable Bass Driver D.I. -> any Amp

    Big Board:

    EBMM SR4 -> Korg DT-10 (Tuner) -> Ampeg SCP-OCT (Octaver) -> Moog MF-101 (Envelope Filter) -> Alfred Bass Overdrive -> MXR Phase 100 -> T.C. Chorus -> MarkBass F-1 / SansAmp RBI

    Generally, both boards provide more or less the same spectrum of sounds, but on the big board there are the more rare, expensive and heavy units. I put together the small board for home use and to take on tour.

    Effects I use most within songs: Octaver and phaser. Also, when I want an especially synth like sound, I go for octaver plus envelope following filter.
    Have bass. Will play.
