If you could have any two Musicman Basses...

Title says it all - what two basses would you pick?

NOTE: The scope of this question isn't about limited edition, collector's color, special issue, rare "keep it under glass" high market value...blah, blah, blah. Scope is more about tonal variety and play-ability. About getting "that growl" and as much hard working tonal flexibility as any two Musicman basses will pack.

This question is all about what two basses would you most like to have and actually play as your "go to" basses? Revised: Fretted or fretless ok!

So here we go...what would it be? A Bongo HH and a Stingray HH? A Sterling HH and a Bongo H? Two Stingrays? Two Bongos? You get the idea.

    OK....go!

First, if I could only have two and only two MusicMan basses, I'd hunt you down and do bad things to you for imposing such an arbitrary rule concerning numbers.

    1. Bongo 5 single H.
    2. Bongo 5 double H.

And if number two was "just" a single H, I'd be okay with that, too, really.

    1. my 30th sr4
    2. bongo 5 H (have yet to play one but my perception of it is nothing but great)

by all means i like the HH but i dont find use for the pickup selecting/blending that stuff just confuses me greatly, the sound from a single H is all i need

    p.s. zippy what are yours?

The #1 slot is definitely a Sterling HH 4. Best EB bass currently made IMO.

The #2 slot is tougher, it would either be a Bongo HS 4 or a Stingray HH 4.

I have them already - two 4HH Bongo's, one with roundwound, one with flats.

I'm in love with the two on the left.

I'd take a Bongo HH if three were allowed.

    id pick:
*the tony levin 20th sr5 because it is my fav bass with my fav color
*the dual 30th sr4 prototype because i love my 30ths and i love hh configs as well. not to mention i have a bad habit of collecting

im eager to try the redwood bfr.. it should be here this week so perhaps things will change as time goes by

    MrM
just put flats on the bongo!!
just put roundwounds on your fretless!!

    trussrod adjustment:
less relief / flatter = lower action
more relief / bow = higher action
do NOT use cheap tools to adjust with. they might break and scrape up your pressious!
also, if you are lucky enough to have a 100th namm sr4: the truss works the other way around on that one!

    A 2-band Stingray and a 3-band stingray 4H.

    A kinder, gentler collection...
