    Red face OLP modifications

Just curious, I would like to add an active 2band eq to an olp stingray bass. Would I need to replace the pickup with an active pickup? or just add the active eq? And where could I find these items? thanks

You don't need to change the pick up.
Getting an ebmm preamp means second hand, evilbay and such, or dump an aftermarket pre in there.
bovinehost: Yes, I do agree with that, but if there's nothing wrong then there's nothing wrong.
Beth: I would compare Bongo to Tommy Lee Jones. Bad a$$ and just hot in a weird way...
cheezewiz: They should take their lace thongs off and play bass.

MM pickups aren't active...it's the preamp that's active.

yeah, it's just the preamp that's active, though a musicman pickup would make it sound miles better. But i'm afraid you're going to have to look on ebay etc for it, you can't buy them from shops or from EBMM.

You can buy a replica of the vintage MM 2 band pre-amp on eBay.
    Have bass. Will play.

I just saw an SR4 preamp on ebay for around $450. getting the real deal will be expensive and that's on the rare occassion you can find one used.
