    Guys,

Thanks again for all of the kind words about our photography.

I just spoke to James about opening up our photo suite to “outside” work and he was up for the idea. What do you guys think? Would anyone be interested in sending their bass or bass collection over to have it photographed TPB style? There would be a charge for the service of course but a price has not yet been discussed.

    Just a thought, any ideas?

Although I think that's a great idea, and I certainly would love to have my basses photographed that way (though sending them to the US and back is just way too expensive just for a photo), I would not offer such a service. Reason: Be prepared that lots of people who want to sell their instruments in eBay will (ab)use you. And then your presentational advantage will be gone.
    Have bass. Will play.

I definitely understand how it would not be feasible for international customers. I also appreciate your concerns with the use and abuse of our advanced photograph methods but that is the idea. (Kind of) Remember, I said it will come at a price …. Degrading our presentational advantage is something to think about, thanks for your input.

(This is just an idea, it may not ever happen.) … Mods, BP, if this is not the right place to have this discussion I understand … just give me the word.

    Thanks

Edit: Just thought i'd take a second to say hats off to the guys a TPB, they do some stunning photography with their basses. Miles better than any other sites out there.
Holy cow, look at that redwood!!!

I'm from the skinny-stringer side, but man, that's enough to convert a guy...

and yes, I agree that TPB and TPG take the best pics around. They sure were a selling factor for the guitar I bought from them. Nice to be able to see the thing in full detail when buying a guitar from many, many miles away without being able to play it first.
