    is this true?

there are a few good ones. one guy that i think is the manager is great. but the rest of them seem like there just trying to push a sale and dont know what there talking about. i hate it when i go in there and some sales guy starts talking and i know everything he says is wrong. that drives me nuts. i went in there one day and asked to raise the action on a ray but the sales guy didnt because it was a 1300 dollar bass. arrrggggg. i woulda done it myself but it wasnt mine and im sure they wouldnt have liked that.

A semi-related question. Can you go into GC or any big guitar dealer (ex. Sam Ash) with some tools to setup a bass yourself? It sounds silly, but I've been in GCs during peak times and tried out basses with horrible setups.

California has more stringent controls on many things that go into the air, but long ago we learned that sparkles were discontinued because about six of us were the only people buying them.

Lord, we tried hard, we did our best, but we were few and the sparkles were many.

(There's another t-shirt slogan - "We were few and the sparkles were many".)

GC doesn't want you coming in with tools for a very good reason: most people, most players, even, don't know squat about setting up an instrument. We've seen it here over and over, the questions like "If I turn my truss rod, will my rattles stop?" Well, hot rod, which way are you turning it and WHY?

So I can see their point. Yes, yes, we're all smarter than those other guys, but Carl the GC manager doesn't know that.

I think we need ID cards.

    Lefty loosey, righty tighty.

Which for bassists means - tighten it up, the neck flattens out. Loosen it, more relief.

It's not that hard to do, but you do have to understand the basics.

    We can help you!

We can also infect you, I think.

Grape Sparkle Bongo 5 HH Lined Fretless - Count me as one sale! I'd even sell my Ken Smith BT5G for that beast!

Yeah, I think I'll need a little hands on training. I've been playing for years, but always on crappy basses. Once I have my beauty, I'll be sure to be trained properly in how to do some basic upkeep to it.

The white sparkle is pretty sexy.

Startus Blue Sparkle all day long! Of course, silver sparkle is pretty bad-ass as well... Just don't get me started on the short lived Gremlin Green Sparkle... yuck!
they say absence makes the heart grow fonder... so go away!

    Current basses: None (but looking)

    Previous basses:

Stratus Blue Sparkle 'Ray with maple and matched stock (owned twice, sold twice, and regretted selling twice)

Lava Pearl 'Ray with maple and matched stoch

    Lava Pearl Bongo 4HH

Carbon Ble Pearl Sterling with maple board
