I think that's Tobacco Sunburst. I understand that VSB is a solid finish, while the TS is transparent. But anyway, that looks awesome.

    great!

personally rather than it looking plastic-ky pickguard
maybe try and compare it naked (pickguard-less)
    think it will look nicer

Looks like vintage sunburst to me!

    Tobacco has no red.

Not even sure whether EB made a tobacco finish???

Looks good man. What kind of flatwounds are you using (brand, gauge)?

I'm actually confused about the VSB and the TSB thing. Bass Central has two SRs up as TSB but one has the transparent sunburst finish and the other has a solid one. Can anyone clear this up?

nismaniac: Im using the Regular Ernie Ball slinky 5 strings [45-65-80-100-130], it comes from the factory and its roundwound

midopa: Bass Central mixes up all of the color, cant be trusted

Here's some pics from Bass Central:

Pic 1 is described as being "Tobacco S/Burst". IMO, they have described the finish correctly.

Pic 2 (below) is also described as "Tobacco S/Burst" but IMO it's a "Sunburst" finish. It has the red colouring in it. Viewed by itself, it could easily be taken as Tobacco.

Pics 3 and 4 are described as "Vintage Sunburst" and, of course, they are Sunbursts.

As you can see from pics 2, 3 and 4...all are different. They can vary between instruments and sometimes the yellow will appear solid rather than transparent.

P.S. From what I can recall, Fender has/had a "Sunburst" and also a "Vintage Sunburst" but don't know if that was the case with EB.

Well, I'm sure you're in love. But I think the clear pickguard just looks silly with your guitar's guts showing to the world!

Hm... Thanks for your input, Rod. To me, it seems like the Tobacco Bursts are more brownish at the edges of the body (hence the 'Tobaco' part, I guess ). The VSBs seem to completely black at the edges.

I've checked the BAI site, but it seems like the picture for Tobacco Burst bodies isn't available on any of the EBMM basses!

    >>>>>P.S. From what I can recall, Fender has/had a "Sunburst" and also a "Vintage Sunburst" but don't know if that was the case with EB.

To avoid confusion, the Fender SB and VSB both had the red in them but the VSB appears/appeared more vivid. I'm wondering if EB had two corresponding three-tone sunbursts in recent years as opposed to their older "Sunburst" which was a trans yellow inner, flowing into a trans red but no black on the outer edge.

If they did have two similar corresponding three-colour sunbursts then perhaps they were named "Tobacco Sunburst" and "Vintage Sunburst" as Bass Central has named them. That may also be an explaination for the colour differences in pics 2 to 4...especially between pic 2 as opposed to pics 3 and 4.

Sooooo, from the above, how does this sound:

    * Sunburst (older two tone sunburst)
    * Tobacco Burst (brown two tone)
    * Tobacco Sunburst (three tone version #1)
    * Vintage Sunburst (three tone version #2)

    ( uhmm....shutup Rod )

Ok, from the pics the strings looked so bright and smooth I thought they were flatwounds.
