    On a very serious note........

I have a 92 sunburst rosewood, amazing figured neck, sound just as good as it looks, but the edges of the neck, not the frets, is very sharp as compared to my other rosewoods, is ther a way that someone can round out the edges like on my other ones??? I dont know anyone i would trust to do that, is this something that ernie ball would be able to do ??

My friend Corey in Santa Cruz can do that and I trust him implicitly.

But you're not very close to Santa Cruz. Rolling fretboards is something a good luthier should be able to do for you, but "good luthier" is sometimes like "good lawyer" or "happy marriage" or "jumbo shrimp" or that old classic, "military intelligence".

(I insulted myself, too, so no one get up in arms here.)

Best idea is to get recommendations from people you trust.

thanks, so other people have had this sharp edges problem also?? there is no one here i would trust, is it just a matter of sanding it down to round out the edges, ? i guess the frets would have to be shaved down also, evev though they are not the problem ?

Could this not just be due to climate change, the fretboard drying out and shrinking just enough to make the edges of the frets noticable? Think about the climate you have the bass in also. Just sayin...

The original post states: "but the edges of the neck, not the frets, is very sharp". Nothing to do with climate.

I have no idea how "military intelligence" deals with that, but I'd expect them to have a proper fretboard-rolling-tool and not just take a piece of sandpaper and happily sand away...

Seriously. Stop in and talk to these guys. After seeing their set-up and talking to them you might be willing to trust them.

They are local to you, and have done very good work for me.

Our very own knucklehead Tommyindelaware is a great luthier as well. Drop him a PM or e-mail and see what he has to say. I would trust him with anything to do with guitars and basses.
"Welcome to the addiction!" is now patented by Koogie2k......if used by anyone other than Koogie2k....you must mail him a US nickel for each time said/typed or signed.......

thanks guys it is definetly not the weather, and the ftres, it is the way the neck or rather the rosewwood slab was cut, the edges were just left very sharp but the bass is a killer, beautiful figured neck

Man, why didn't I think about this when I had my Bongo? My SR5's fingerboard is perfection, and by contrast the Bongo's fb was a bit sharp. It was the only thing I didn't like about it, and was a big reason why I sold it.

I just played mine into a hand-sanded state of smoothness. Sorry, I thought he was talking about sharp fret ends. Posting after drinking = not good.
