ok sorry for the tease yesterday...
So, i've picked up my new bongo 4 single H BFR. Got to open the box myself and play with this beauty.

This is a terrific bass and i will need a lot of time to realise all it's potential, still here's my first comments.
- I understand now when other bongoloids refer to it as an empty canvas. I feel my fingers really have all the tone and it's transfered thru the bass. it's an amazing feeling which i never felt with another bass.
- The bongo likes to be pushed, the more you dig in the more rewarding it is. The sound never seems to break up, even when i dig real hard. it gets punchier and tighter, dunno how to say it really, i'm just really impressed.
-rosewood neck....one word, awesome! never been a fan of paint. the gunstock finish is ultra smooth, smoother than my 20th SR5.
- neck shape, bigger than i expected from my only trial with a Bongo 5. It's the first time i've tried a Bongo 4. I love the neck shape. it feels great.
-overall the bass is terrific, lightweight and looks amazing.
- i contributed to another black EBMM, but i don't care, it looks great in black. like i said before, it's a bongo. there's no need to make it even more interesting with a fancy color. That said a DD bongo 5 would be great.
- 4 strings (for my contribution to this week's debate). Is great. I don't always need a fiver, 4 strings is home, it feels great and there's nothing missing.
- single H bongo: can't compare to the other pickup configs as i don't own another bongo. The tone is monstreous kinda like a P/SR combo. Definately darker sounding from my sterling and SR5. wonderful tone if played smoothly, more agressively or when slapped.
I feel i've said too much without really putting into words how wonderful this instrument is.
BP, i feel privileged to be able to own another one of your wonderful creations. The bongo was a little leap of faith for me. I was rewarded yesterday.
