Spinal Tap at Glastonbury 09 - EBMM content

    Hi Guys,

As you know I live in Somerset in England and I'm actually on the edge of the Somerset Levels and am within sight (but not earshot) of Glastonbury and its eponymous festival. I'm not going this time but the weather has been superb this weekend and it looks to have been a really great event this year - Springsteen and Neil Young headlining and tons of other good stuff on.

The BBC covers the event very well and they have a very comprehensive website here:

    BBC Glastonbury 09

However, the big news for Spinal Tap fans of course is that they played this year and there was some nice EBMM action from them yesterday. Disappointed that Derek Smalls is playing a Lakland bass but Nigel Tufnell makes heavy use of his EBMM 25th Anniversary guitar (photos from the BBC website):

There is a 30 minute video of their set on the BBC website and about 20 minutes in they play Big Bottom, at which point Jarvis Cocker joins them (playing a F*nd*r) and Nigel plays a rather tasty looking Stingray 4H (looks like it may have piezo's too):

"Stonehenge" seemed to go down very well with the local New Age element

I'll keep an eye out for more Musicman Goodness from the festival

    Cheers!

    Neil

I got woken up by Trev giggling away to himself this morning watching set online.

I sat there hoping for a inflatable Stonehenge and I got my wish! Brilliant

Molly and I were laughing at it as well - I love the irony of an American spoof band taking the mickey out of Big Brit Rock and being rapturously received at Glastonbury

Now tell me Nigel/David aren't modelled on Parfitt/Rossi and Derek Smalls isn't Lemmy

By the way, we thought we'd be seeing you at The Knucklehead Bash - you missed a great night, you must get there next year by hook or by crook

Hey, it's paid for by UK license fee payers!

I don't think you need it for this though, do you? It says it runs using a normal Adobe Flash player... I can't tell as I am in the UK

Great stuff Grey Dad - I watched this last night live and lo and behold, it was on tele this morning as well. As well as the smart Stingray 4HP, I particularly liked the dancers for the Big Bottom song - must be my age I think!

BUT..............did you see Lily Allen's set - apart from her outrageous outfit, the bass player used a v tasty vintage sunburst Stingray 4HH throughout the set - using some cool effects for some of the electro stuff as well. I guess it's available on bbc.co.uk also.

I didn't want to mention that, left it as a surprise for the keen (male, sexist, non-PC, unreconstructed) viewer

Humph, well, don't expect that to count do you?

Darn. It doesn't say anywhere that it's using iPlayer or that the video is restricted - it's not an iPlayer interface on the site, just a Flash player.

You guys enjoy all your UK only Glastonbury 09 videos. I'm going to go play my StingRay 5 that would cost you twice as much over there. Just kidding, guys. Although I was looking forward to checking out the videos.
