    Thanks Ed!

Can anyone tell me why I just bought 4 Sets of uncoated Slinkys. It takes me almost a year to use them up.

I've really got to work on my timing.

    Here are some samples.
Ed, can you give your experience on the longevity of the strings?

    Thanks

The EB coated strings will not fray from extensive picking like that other brand - they are built differently. The others - "brand X" are coated after the string is wound so you have coating over the entire string. It eventually frays, but at least it kills your tone in the mean time

I find the EB coated strings are almost identical to the non-coated, just a little warmer. Kind of like where a set of nickels end up after a couple of days, except they stay that way for a long time.
Hmmm...this is interesting. A warmer roundwound. This could just be the thing I am looking for. How is the finger noise compared to uncoated rounds? Is it quieter?

    Ed rules!

Now I'm determine to take coated for next strings change and thats for sure!

I recently changed original EB RSB 5 set with the same fresh one, and now after few gigs sounds really like when I bought my bass!

I hope that coated will last twice longer than regulars?

I do not have so much gigs right now, but after Easter have almost every Saturday one wedding party, and than will test coated set in practice, on hard looong gigs, we play usually 60-100 songs per night!
That will be an "off-road" test for sure!

I'll be back on this thread!

I've been using gounds as to not mark up my fingerboard as much. Would these be softer and not mark up a fingerboard like standard rounds?

    Hi there!

Like I said, I'll be back to this thread and report, but when right time comes, probably at Spring 2010.

P.S. ...glad to have some domestic roots in the USA

Cool. Listening to Ed's sound clips makes me:

    1. Want to get a set of Coated slinkys

    2. Then get a set of EB flats. I tried (non eb) flats on the SR5 once and it didn't take, but clearly, got to try again.

    3. WANT A BIG AL! It wasn't on my list of MM basses I want "someday", but ...wow. Does the P with more clarity, plus everything else it does.

    4. Want to be able to play as cleanly and tastily as Ed. That may never happen.
