Lightbulb an idea that is bugging me.. pickup comparisons

there has been alot of talk about pickup comparison lately..

ed has done some marvellous jobs with similar things recently so i figgured:

ed does this for a living.. so asking him to do that would be fairly close to rude. now if 30 of us knuckles chipped in 10$ each we could be closer to persuading him to help us out

    anybody else up for that?

    MrM

edit: so asking him to do that FOR FREE would be....

just put flats on the bongo!!
just put roundwounds on your fretless!!

    trussrod adjustment:
less relief / flatter = lower action
more relief / bow = higher action
do NOT use cheap tools to adjust with. they might break and scrape up your pressious!
also, if you are lucky enough to have a 100th namm sr4: the truss works the other way around on that one!

I'm not sure what you're proposing exactly... swapping out pickups in the same bass? It's not as simple as changing strings... and I'm not exactly talented with a soldering iron.

I appreciate your offer to take up a collection, but honestly, I've got my hands pretty full with the stuff I have assigned from Guitar World, my monthly Bass Emporium newsletter commitment, and this dang book I'm trying to finish. Not to mention the gigs and teaching.... I will have to respectfully decline the offer.

guys lets not put any "pressure" on any other forumite. its not the best feeling to be called out in public... even though we all understand it was well intentioned.

Ed's a cool guy and nice enough to share his vast knowledge and experience with us but lets take his participation for granted and turn him off to the place.

Yeah, sure, unless you're going out with him.
