    Bongo Studio report

Just recorded an album at Arcadia Studio in Atlanta. www.arcadiarocks.com
All I took was my Bongo and fretless Jazz. The engineer Knox has worked with everyone from Aretha Franklin to Aerosmith. He didnt really dig the Bongos looks, but when I plugged in he was floored. He said it was one of the best sounding basses hed ever heard. I thought maybe he was just trying to flatter me until he got on the phone calling bassists he knows telling them that they needed to check out the Bongos. He even told me he was going to call a dealer buddy of his to check on getting a Bongo to use as a house bass. WOW. He then went on to tell me that the EBMM basses are the best recording basses he has ever worked with. I guess its too bad EBMM doesnt make a ovankol/pauduck/bubinga/mahogany model. OK, bad joke.

Yes, if only we could get spalted snakewood and LED inlays and .......

Nice to hear someone confirm what we already knew, though, isn't it?

If you play a Bongo and don't like the way it sounds or the way it plays, I have to figure you're from some other planet.

Like the planet were people are really, really dumb, that one.

He doesn't and it does NOT.

Even with the wife out of town for a week, I take care of that sort of thing on a regular basis, thank you.

way to go lvr83! And yes, it'll take a little more time but the tide is turning, the Empire will be defeated!
On a similar note, I did a few different types of gigs this week-end and ended up not even turning on the Tone section of my U5 but rather just going direct out into the power amp, I'm really loving the juiced up P bass tone of the neck humbucker soloed.
    Keep on Rockin!!!

I actually heard my first Bongo on CMT and posted about it. The only bass that will compete with it is the SR5. That is if it will. I have not heard enough to form a complete opinion yet but stand by MM basses all Rock.

It really isn't a suprise that some folks will go off sound without the visual opion. I am going to buy a Bongo when I get the funds and I will break my long and hard rule I play it or I don't buy it.

Good 'ol Knox. How many tracks did you guys get laid down and how long did it take? I hear hes pretty good, but I've never done a session w/ him. Although I enjoyed my Bongo for the time I had it, I just like the basic appeal of my 'Rays and my Sterling. I may own another one in the future, but I doubt it...

Knox was great and very encouraging. I'd recommend him to anyone. My band did 10 songs on 2 days. I did 10 tracks in about 2 and a half hours. The Bongo sounded GREAT. I did much better than I thought I would. Overall I had a great time.

Were gonna take two more days to do odds and ends, then its off to mastering and reproducing. I'll be sure to get you a copy. Good luck with your recording. Knock it out of the ballpark.

We're gonna try. We're doing four days up front and two days of overdubs so hopefully it'll turn out delightful...
